The Low-Income Taxpayer Project of 603 Legal Aid may be able to help. The Project is a free tax clinic designed to help low-income taxpayers with federal tax problems, including:
Refund delays
Stimulus payments
Tax credits
Identity theft
Audits
Tax debts
Liens & levies
Installment agreements
Offers in compromise
Innocent spouse relief
Injured spouse relief
Worker classification
The Project does not generally provide tax return preparation but can do so if needed to fix a federal tax problem.
Eligibility
You may be eligible for help if:
You have an IRS problem.
The amount of money at stake is not more than $50,000* per year.
Your income is not more than 250%* of the federal poverty line.
*The Project may be able to accept a limited number of cases that do not meet these criteria, depending on staff resources and client circumstances.
